01

The publisher identifies a specific rounded script

Flavortype credits Ilham Herry and Adam Fathoni Haris with Melt. The original account describes a bold, rounded cursive direction and three font-file options. This establishes a particular family, not a universal method for producing melted letters. A project using another font with an applied distortion should be described by its actual family and effect settings.

02

The three files organize the swashes differently

The publisher names Melt Italic as the full-featured script option. In Melt Swashes, uppercase-letter positions are replaced with swashes, while Melt Swashes Alt supplies alternative decorative forms in those positions. A typed capital therefore may not behave as expected when the wrong companion is selected. Keep the script wording and the decorative resource clearly separated in the project specification.

03

Compose an original title before selecting its flourish

Write a short title and a practical supporting line. Establish the title’s width and baseline first, then add one swash where it reinforces the composition. A decorative stroke should not collide with an adjacent word or be mistaken for an underline linking unrelated information. Compare the title without the flourish, especially at the smaller size used in a thumbnail or label.

04

Keep companion files distinct during handoff

Lobster, Fredoka and Source Sans 3 are independent comparison specimens, not Melt files. Compare the same original title and supporting sentence to explore different levels of roundness and informality. For an actual Melt layout, record which text uses the script and which elements use a swash companion. Preserve a clear editable-text structure so a later wording change does not accidentally replace letters with ornaments.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Your questions, answered.

Does this Melt family automatically make dripping letters?

No. This guide covers a particular script and its swash companions, rather than a generic melting-text effect.

Why can a capital become a decorative stroke?

The publisher explains that the Swashes companion replaces uppercase-letter positions with swashes. The script and decorative companion should remain separately identified.
