Louis Vuitton Font: Custom Type for Magazine Headlines

Explore Louis Vuitton Magazine’s documented custom slab serif and three-height capitals, with practical spread-layout advice and independent font comparisons.

Start with the application: magazine headlines, a supporting caption and a logo are different identification tasks. The documented magazine typefaces provide a useful answer for editorial design, without establishing which font belongs to every Louis Vuitton mark or product.

01

Meet the magazine’s two documented custom typefaces

Production Type’s original Louis Vuitton Magazine project documents LV Clémence and LV Loys Sans Condensed. Clémence is an extended slab serif made for crisp magazine titles on coated paper, with Clarendon-like square serifs and low stroke contrast. Loys Sans Condensed has three uppercase heights: full capitals, an intermediate level and a lowercase-aligned unicase level. This is a magazine commission; the account does not identify the main LV monogram or establish a universal brand font.

02

Choose width before forcing a headline across a spread

Build a spread with a real headline, photograph and center gutter. First establish where the words must remain readable when the publication is partly closed. Try a naturally wide slab face rather than stretching a narrow font sideways; stretching changes stroke thickness and counter shapes as well as width. Test a one-line and a two-line arrangement, then compare how each version directs attention to the photograph. Arvo here is an independent slab-serif comparison, not a preview or substitute file for LV Clémence.

03

Make a deliberate capital-height rhythm

In your licensed editor and font, inspect the glyph palette before assuming an uppercase feature can be reached with ordinary typing. For a face that supplies multiple capital heights, record which characters or features produce each level and keep a repeatable pattern across similar headings. Do not simulate designed height variants by shrinking random letters: their stroke weight and baseline can become inconsistent. Jost is a separate sans-serif comparison. For a social caption, the copy-and-paste text style generator changes Unicode characters; it does not reproduce these custom magazine outlines or their capital-height system.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Your questions, answered.

What font does Louis Vuitton Magazine use?

Production Type documents LV Clémence and LV Loys Sans Condensed for the magazine. Identify the edition and specific element before extending that attribution to another application.

Can I download those custom magazine fonts here?

No original custom font files are supplied here. The linked creator project is the source for the commission; the on-page font specimens are independent comparisons, not the commissioned families.
