Start with the publisher’s Whatnot connection
Hanoded’s Life Is Strange portfolio entry names Whatnot. Its original family description identifies a hand-drawn all-capital design made with a fine-liner on smooth paper, with alternate drawings in the lowercase positions. Keep that named family separate from a claim about every subtitle, phone screen, diary page or later installment. For a historical match, record the actual game and text role rather than applying one font name across the entire series.
Use alternate capitals to control repeated letters
Whatnot’s publisher says its uppercase and lowercase entries can be interchanged. Try a short original title containing repeated letters, such as A SMALL MOMENT. Keep one plain uppercase setting, then substitute alternate drawings at the repeated positions. Compare the word spacing before changing more letters: the goal is a natural sequence, not a different height for every character. Save a text copy of the final spelling so a later edit does not accidentally replace an alternate. Patrick Hand and Indie Flower below are independent handwriting comparisons, not specimens of Whatnot.
Do not silently replace the original with Whatnot 22
In his original account for Whatnot 22, David Kerkhoff describes revisiting his 2014 Whatnot design with improved kerning, expanded language support and cycling contextual alternates. That is a later edition, not proof of its use in the earlier game. When comparing editions, use the same repeated-letter phrase and keep contextual alternates on for one proof and off for another. Record the edition with the artwork. The copy-and-paste text style generator creates Unicode substitutions; it does not install either Whatnot edition or preserve its font-specific alternate behavior.
Your questions, answered.
Which family does Hanoded connect with Life Is Strange?
Its own portfolio entry names Whatnot. That connection should not be expanded into a claim about every interface or every later game.
Is Whatnot 22 automatically the same historical font file?
No. The creator describes it as a later reworking. Choose and document the edition instead of treating a newer resource as proof of the original production’s font file.
