Lavanderia: background and attribution
James T. Edmondson designed Lavanderia from lettering seen on laundromat windows in San Francisco’s Mission District. Lost Type introduced it in November 2011. In his accompanying account, Edmondson connects the design with the energy and variety of local signs, bringing that character into a three-weight digital script.

Forms, styles and what to inspect
Lavanderia includes titling capitals designed to sit more quietly beside lowercase letters, simpler alternatives for selected looped forms, contextual endings and swashes. These features allow different levels of decoration while retaining the same underlying design. Compare restrained settings before combining several flourishes.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Try a short shop heading with default characters, then simplify selected letters or add a single terminal flourish. Compare the complete phrase at the intended sign or label size. Keep long opening hours and contact details in a clear supporting face, and allow space around ascenders and descenders.
For independent comparisons, try Satisfy and Playball. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
