Junegull: background and attribution
Raymond Larabie’s own account dates Junegull’s release to May 2002. It developed from his earlier You’re Gone design, retaining rounded sans forms while reducing its science-fiction peculiarities. The name came from the approaching month of June and the seagulls around Port Credit, where he was living.

Forms, styles and what to inspect
The current foundry specimen describes rounded forms interrupted by horizontal arms and terminals, with numerals that borrow a more squared, technical construction. Its broader range includes multiple weights, italics and a Beach style. Compare the selected cut directly rather than assuming an older single-style file represents the entire current family.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Set a small exhibition heading, a diagram label and a short explanatory caption. Use mixed case and measurement-like numbers to see whether the rounded character stays useful beyond a title. Compare a heavy heading with a lighter supporting style, then check that similar letters and digits remain distinguishable at the smallest planned size.
For independent comparisons, try Fredoka and Nunito Sans. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
