JHA Times Now Font: Read the Designer’s Specimen

Study JHA Times Now’s original specimen, compare figure styles and heading weights, and distinguish this named type family from a television logo.

This guide covers Jan Henrik Arnold’s JHA Times Now type family. Its original specimen provides a useful exercise in separating a family’s weight system, numeral choices and editorial layout from an unrelated brand with the same words in its name.

01

Identify the JHA family before choosing a font

The designer’s original specimen identifies JHA Times Now, Jan Henrik Arnold and version 1.001. Its weight overview places Times New Roman Regular and Italic among the family comparison lines with a note that they fit in. The document also labels oldstyle, lining and tabular figures, showing that numeral selection is part of the typography exercise.

This is evidence for a named type project, not an identification of the Indian television channel’s logo. Keep the JHA prefix in your research notes. The specimen is a historical design record; it does not by itself establish today’s purchasing or file availability.

02

Compare numerals in dates, prices and paragraphs

Prepare a short paragraph containing a year, a footnote marker and a price, then prepare a separate column of amounts. Inspect the same digits in those two settings. A paragraph and an aligned table have different layout demands, so choose the numeral treatment deliberately rather than assuming one default must serve both.

Record the feature names in your layout application and check that a change affects the intended text. If your installed file exposes different options from the specimen, stop and confirm its family and version. Do not use letter spacing as a substitute for selecting tabular figures when aligned numerical columns are required.

03

Proof heading weight without changing the whole page

Choose one real article heading and two paragraphs of supporting text. Duplicate the layout and vary only the heading style; judge the space above the paragraph and the number of lines the title occupies. Then add an italic quotation and confirm that it reads as a separate voice without changing the underlying grid.

The local Source Serif 4 and Crimson Text previews are independent editorial comparisons. They do not render JHA Times Now. Use the original specimen for the named design and the font pairing chart for a separate exercise in assigning supporting roles.

For decorative wording in an accompanying post, explore the stylish text generator on the homepage. That tool produces Unicode text; it does not reproduce the named typeface, supply its files or carry its layout features.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Your questions, answered.

Does this identify the Times Now television logo font?

No. This guide is explicitly about the JHA type project. A television identity needs its own documented production source.

Can I download JHA Times Now here?

No. The linked PDF is a specimen, and the local previews are independently named families. A historical specimen is not permission to obtain or redistribute font software.
