Industry Inc: background and attribution

Mattox Shuler designed Industry Inc for Fort Foundry, building on the bold uppercase style of the related Industry family. The result is a collection of standalone treatments and coordinated layers. It is a distinct display system rather than another name for the ordinary Industry text family.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

The source lists Base, Stencil, Inline, Outline, Bevel, 3D and companion fill or shadow resources. Layered effects require matching text, position and sizing across the chosen components. A font called 3D draws a graphic effect; it does not create an editable three-dimensional model.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Make a short poster title using a base and one compatible detail layer. Align both copies exactly and compare the result at the final print size. Keep colors and layer order documented, and avoid combining so many treatments that the underlying letters become difficult to read.

For independent comparisons, try Anton and Russo One. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
