Impact Label: background and attribution
Impact Label is credited to Tension Type. Its author listing records a December 2008 appearance and a January 2011 update, with ordinary and Reversed resources. It is a separately named decorative project, not a package of Geoffrey Lee’s unrelated Impact family.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The source marks the release as donationware and requests a one-time donation for commercial use. Preserve that condition instead of calling it unrestricted free commercial software. Compare the standard and Reversed specimens to see how their filled and open areas interact with a background.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Try a short label, a small caption tag and a poster annotation. Compare both resources against the actual background color. Check padding around the text and whether the smallest intended size retains the separation between adjacent characters.
For independent comparisons, try Special Elite and Roboto Mono. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
Official preview and font resources
Use Tension Type / DaFont to try the original and investigate the files, styles and terms for your intended workflow. This site does not distribute or serve Impact Label font software.
The editable alternatives here have their own source profiles and included licenses. For the difference between a font file and copied characters, read Unicode text versus fonts.
