01

High Tide: background and attribution

Filipe Rolim published the High Tide project in June 2013, explaining that it arose from a need for a different typeface in his own work. Its creator project points to a Fontfabric distribution. BLKBK later offered a separate handwritten High Tide, so the shared name needs a creator reference.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

The Rolim project presents a free download, while BLKBK’s directory selection is explicitly a demo with commercial resources sold separately. Those terms belong to different fonts. Inspect the original project’s specimen and supplied package before borrowing the other product’s history or permissions.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Compare the specific High Tide design needed for a poster or title, using the creator name in project notes. Check actual letters and punctuation before choosing a resource. Pair the display setting with a clearly named reading face so later editors can reproduce both roles.

For independent comparisons, try Josefin Sans and Poiret One. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
