Heavitas: background and attribution
Deepak Dogra’s Graphite release of Heavitas first appeared in the directory in November 2015. The creator now points to a separate expanded Heavitas Neue family. The original download and the newer release should be distinguished when describing available weights and lowercase variations.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The original resource is Heavitas.ttf, offered for personal use with separate commercial arrangements. The creator describes Neue as adding weights, revised kerning and lowercase variation. Those later features should not be promised as part of the original single-resource download.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a bold poster heading and a compact label. Inspect counters and punctuation before reducing the image. If matching an older design, record whether it uses Heavitas or Heavitas Neue rather than switching to a newer resource silently.
For independent comparisons, try Anton and Montserrat. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
