In a June 2014 author comment, André Harabara explains that he corrected imperfections in Harabara and developed an expanded family called Harabara Mais, naming light, normal, bold and black with italic companions. His current distribution page supplies Harabara Mais Demo.otf. That is a useful distinction between a documented family expansion and the particular demo available there today. Check the actual installed family and style names before following an old tutorial or replacing a file in an established project.
Compare title case and lowercase wordmarks
Set “Harbor Studio” in title case, then make a separate lowercase version. Give both the same final wordmark width and compare the shapes of the openings, repeated strokes and word space. Keep “24” on a separate line while deciding on the main lettering. View the two versions as small navigation logos as well as large artwork. Choose the arrangement that makes the name clear before experimenting with extra symbols, outlines or an emblem.
Proof the actual style instead of faking a family
Keep a baseline copy of the selected file at its natural proportions. If you need a heavier, lighter or italic treatment, investigate the creator’s full family and confirm which styles are supplied. Do not infer that the single demo contains every style mentioned in the historical comment. Compare the wordmark beside a brief Inter or Open Sans descriptor as an independent supporting face. Check that the descriptor contributes information without making the complete mark feel crowded.
Resolve permission before publishing the mark
The current author note says the font is not free for commercial use, directs users to the author for the full font and commercial license, and identifies DaFont as the authorized demo distribution site. Follow that current instruction rather than a permissive label attached to a mirrored archive. Preserve the selected file reference, agreement and editable design. For a handoff, establish who needs to edit the mark and what output is required before passing font software to another person.
Your questions, answered.
Is Harabara Mais simply another filename for the old Harabara?
The creator describes Mais as a corrected, expanded family in his 2014 comment. Identify the exact release and supplied styles rather than treating all files with either name as interchangeable.
Is the current Harabara Mais demo free for commercial use?
The author’s current note says it is not. Contact the creator for the full font and commercial-use license, and retain the applicable terms for your project.
