Hanley Pro: background and attribution

Megan Tamaccio and Aleksandar Veljasevic describe Hanley’s development from a script they needed for identity work into a coordinated collection. The publisher recounts adding wood-block-like lettering, a slim direction, a monoline script and sans resources rather than designing one outline in many colors.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

The collection’s Script, Block, Slim, Sans and decorative resources serve different roles. Inline and outline resources are distinct designs, while catchwords and ornaments are accessories rather than ordinary text weights. Choose the intended branch before comparing styles.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Try a short script phrase with a supporting sans line. Satisfy and Montserrat provide independent comparisons for those two roles. Use a design application to finish a multi-font composition rather than expecting a single font specimen to create the complete arrangement.

For independent comparisons, try Satisfy and Montserrat. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
