Glacial Indifference: background and attribution

Hanken Design Co. describes Glacial Indifference as an open-source geometric sans with Bauhaus inspiration. Its family page identifies regular and bold styles and discusses a geometric construction that invites comparison with Futura. That comparison describes a broad design relationship, not identical outlines or spacing.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

Compare round letters, diagonal strokes and the balance between capitals and lowercase in the publisher specimen. A geometric appearance alone does not establish whether two families will produce matching line lengths.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

For a small identity system, compare a short brand heading, an address and a line of numerals. Try Quicksand and Montserrat as separately named geometric-oriented alternatives. Compare at the intended output size before choosing a body-text role.

For independent comparisons, try Quicksand and Montserrat. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
