Separate the documented custom systems
Positype’s original Savannah account credits Neil Summerour and Collins with a 2020 custom serif drawn from new skeletons for Girl Scouts of the USA. Its earlier Trefoil Suite account dates that system to 2016–17 and names Trefoil Sans, Slab, DIY and Thin Mint, including a ten-font layered DIY resource. These are specific commissions, not one public font named after every scouting emblem.
Use the council’s actual font and fallback instructions
The Girl Scouts of Orange County brand page describes the primary Girl Scout custom serif as a contemporary old-style reimagining referencing the organisation’s founding era. It instructs troops and volunteers to default to Palatino Linotype or Helvetica for resources they create. Use the rules belonging to your council and template rather than mixing an archival Trefoil instruction with a new serif layout. Keep the approved logo lockup separate from the editable event title.
Build the flyer around information rather than a substituted logo
Place the activity name, date, venue and registration instruction in separate text roles. Let the approved template determine their hierarchy before trying decorative emphasis. Proof a long activity title and a multi-digit time at the final flyer size. Lora and Source Sans 3 here are independent comparisons for unrelated community projects, not Girl Scout font previews. The homepage’s copyable name lettering uses Unicode substitutions and does not deliver the custom family, branded template or council logo.
Your questions, answered.
Are the older Trefoil fonts and the later custom serif one unchanged resource?
No. Positype documents separate custom projects, so preserve the family name and template context.
What if a volunteer does not have the custom font?
Follow the relevant council’s fallback instructions. The cited Orange County guidance names Palatino Linotype or Helvetica for volunteer-created resources.
