Geomanist: background and attribution
Atipo describes Geomanist as a clean contemporary sans serif combining geometric forms with a humanist character. The foundry’s own account of its 2016 Semcon project shows how that retail foundation informed a custom headline design related to Geomanist Black. The commissioned Semcon work is useful evidence of the design approach, but it should not be confused with a promise that the custom corporate font is part of the ordinary retail package.

Forms, styles and what to inspect
The publisher’s Geomanist feature presentation includes tabular numerals, fractions, superior and inferior figures, ordinals and case-sensitive punctuation. These are practical choices for information-rich typography as well as visual refinements in a headline. Compare the numbering options in actual tables, prices or dates rather than assuming every numeral setting serves the same purpose. The geometric foundation and humanist details should be judged across whole words and paragraphs, not only through an isolated circular letter.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Build a concise project page with a large name, a paragraph and a small table of dates or measurements. Compare ordinary and tabular numerals in the table, choosing the setting that makes columns easier to scan. Keep the title and paragraph closely related in weight before introducing stronger contrast. Check punctuation around an uppercase label, and leave sufficient line spacing so the geometric rhythm remains comfortable in the longer text.
For independent comparisons, try Montserrat and Manrope. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
