Identify the Windows system-font location
Microsoft’s Known Folder documentation identifies the fixed Fonts folder as %windir%\Fonts. The variable refers to the Windows installation directory rather than guaranteeing a particular drive letter. This documents the system-font location; it does not establish that every downloaded, user-installed or app-managed font resource is stored there. Keep the original filename and source notes when investigating a particular font instead of treating a familiar family name as a unique file identifier.
Distinguish current-user and all-user Mac fonts
Apple’s Font Book settings guide distinguishes Current User fonts in ~/Library/Fonts/ from All Users fonts in /Library/Fonts/. It also says a user-created library can leave resources where they already reside, and that Apple-downloaded system fonts use different locations. For a particular resource, Apple’s Font Book information workflow shows its file location. Use that actual information rather than assuming a collection in the sidebar is another physical copy.
Record one resource before deciding what to do with it
When locating a font for a project, record the family, exact style, filename, source and the application in which it is available. Keep an extracted download separate from the installed resource so an old archive is not mistaken for the active copy. Use the Font Book management guide for collection and duplicate workflows. Inter and Roboto Mono are independent typography specimens, not a list of fonts installed on your device. The homepage copyable text styles change Unicode characters; they do not open local font folders, install files or grant redistribution rights.
Your questions, answered.
Is a Font Book collection a separate font folder?
Apple distinguishes organizational collections and user-created libraries from actual resource locations. Inspect the selected font’s information when you need the file path.
Does the Windows Fonts folder contain every resource an app can use?
The cited Microsoft entry identifies the fixed system Fonts folder. It is not evidence that every user-specific or app-managed resource shares that location.
