Identify the project’s actual release
Read the dependency or asset version used by the project before copying an example. The current Font Awesome web documentation points users of versions 6, 5 and 4 to its upgrade guidance.
An old 4.7 snippet and a newer package can use different setup conventions. Mixing versions is not a reliable way to resolve a missing icon.
Choose one supported loading method
The official web guide describes kits, self-hosted resources and packages. Choose the workflow that matches the project instead of adding multiple unrelated loaders.
A kit has its own setup information. A package belongs to the application’s build process. Follow the exact provider instructions for the selected release rather than inventing a generic CDN credential or URL.
Keep free and Pro resources distinct
Select icons and styles that belong to the resources available to the project. A Pro-labelled example is not evidence that the same resource is included in the Free distribution. Follow the provider’s applicable terms and release information.
The source links here lead to setup documentation. This page does not distribute an icon package or provide a Pro download.
Plan a deliberate upgrade
The official upgrade guide describes replacing old assets and updating references when moving from self-hosted version 6 to version 7. It also warns about conflicts from loading multiple versions.
For the broader distinction between an icon font, an ordinary text family and a copied character, read font file types and Unicode versus fonts.
Search the Free 6.7.2 solid icons
Use the lookup above to search icon names, upstream aliases and descriptive terms. It uses Font Awesome Free 6.7.2 solid icons from the matching official sprite. Search phone to find U+F095, then copy the separately labelled HTML, CSS or code-point reference. The preview is an SVG; copying the code point alone does not install an icon font.
The HTML and pseudo-element CSS require the matching base CSS, solid CSS and font assets in your project. Keep readable contact text beside a decorative phone icon. For a standalone icon button, give the button a meaningful accessible name. This catalog deliberately excludes Pro, brands and regular styles; a missing match does not establish that an icon is absent from every Font Awesome edition.
