Fields: background and attribution
Adam Ladd developed Fields as a soft serif family combining retro character with contemporary details. Rounded serifs, teardrop terminals and small tails contribute to its approachable appearance. The current family has grown beyond one display treatment into multiple optical sizes.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
Fields, Fields Display and Fields Big are separate size-oriented resources, with variable options also documented. Compare the branch intended for the output size rather than assuming a large headline specimen can simply be reduced for every caption or paragraph.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a short package title, a larger display word and a small label at their intended sizes. Choose the optical treatment before tightening spacing. Keep the rounded details visible without letting heavy forms crowd the supporting information.
For independent comparisons, try Corben and Lora. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
