FF DIN: background and attribution
Albert-Jan Pool developed FF DIN during 1995–2009, according to FontFont’s family account. This named interpretation belongs to a broader DIN-related design landscape; a DIN label alone does not identify the same font files.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The publisher offers normal and condensed resources with italics. Figure choices include oldstyle and lining forms in proportional and tabular widths; check the selected edition rather than assuming every resource has identical coverage.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a station-style heading, a price column and a long navigation label. Open Sans and Source Sans 3 offer independent sans-serif comparisons. Judge narrow text separately from a large title.
For independent comparisons, try Open Sans and Source Sans 3. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
