FatFrank: background and attribution
Jeff Schreiber designed FatFrank for Regular Bold Italic. The foundry relates its rounded, heavy forms to early twentieth-century geometric sans serifs and presents it primarily for larger-scale use. Its friendly character comes from the treatment of substantial letter shapes rather than a handwriting model.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The foundry lists an Ultra Black style with Latin and Cyrillic resources. Rounded corners soften the dense forms. A free sample option is distinct from the personal and commercial licenses listed by the creator; do not assume the sample grants every production use.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Set a short headline above plain supporting text and inspect the interior spaces when reducing the design. Compare all capitals with mixed case before committing to a title. Keep the heaviest lettering for the information that should attract attention first.
For independent comparisons, try Fredoka and Montserrat. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
