Eagle: background and attribution
Font Bureau developed Eagle for Publish magazine starting in 1989, drawing on Morris Fuller Benton’s 1933 Eagle Bold for the National Recovery Administration. David Berlow supplied a lowercase and expanded character set, then added Book in 1990. Jonathan Corum contributed Light and Black in 1994.

Forms, styles and what to inspect
The published series contains Light, Book, Bold and Black. Its history combines an earlier titling design with later lowercase and text-oriented development. Eagle and Eagle Lake are different family names; inspect the correct specimen before selecting files.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a short uppercase magazine heading with a mixed-case introduction. Inspect the counters and spacing in both, rather than judging the family from an isolated capital. Compare Book and Bold at the intended output size.
For independent comparisons, try Josefin Sans and Montserrat. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
