Identify the packaging typeface from the foundry’s account
Typograma’s original January 2013 project account identifies Robofan Spark as an adaptation of its Robofan design, commissioned by Hornall Anderson for Doritos packaging. It describes a concrete change: a new set of A forms with the crossbar in the middle instead of at the baseline. That establishes a commissioned packaging adaptation, not a claim that ordinary retail Robofan recreates every Doritos logo. The foundry’s older site may be unavailable intermittently; its historical project statement does not guarantee present access to the custom files.
Keep the spark symbol separate from the letterforms
OurCreative’s firsthand Doritos identity case describes a flexible global system and a spark graphic that references the chip shape, the D and a play button. A symbol with letter-related inspiration is still a separate graphic component. Record whether an example concerns the logo, a flavor heading or supporting pack information before naming a font. Neither account establishes that every later regional design uses the same custom adaptation unchanged.
Test one letter change in an original label study
Write an invented snack name containing A beside a flavor description and a small ingredient note. In a drawing exercise, compare an original A with a low crossbar against one with a centered crossbar while keeping its outer width and height fixed. Inspect the counterspace and the rhythm beside neighboring letters, then put the chosen drawing back into the complete label. Do not modify or redistribute proprietary font files for this exercise. Anton and Jost below are independent comparisons, not Robofan Spark. The homepage Unicode text options replace characters rather than changing a font’s crossbar design or supplying Doritos artwork.
Your questions, answered.
What font adaptation does the original maker document?
Typograma names Robofan Spark, a Robofan adaptation commissioned for Doritos packaging, with a specifically altered A crossbar.
Does that prove every Doritos logo is ordinary Robofan?
No. The evidence concerns a custom packaging adaptation. Brand symbols, finished logo artwork and supporting typography need separate identification.
