01

Degular: background and attribution

James Edmondson’s Degular belongs to OH no Type Company. The foundry’s current catalog distinguishes three optical sizes and a monospaced branch within the broader family. Those branches explain the system’s range rather than a claim that all resources are one interchangeable file.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

The publisher specimen lists numeral treatments, alternates and case-sensitive resources, with some features specific to the Mono branch. Compare the exact edition and optical role needed by the layout. A family-level feature list does not establish that every style contains every resource.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Try an ordinary reading paragraph, a large title and a numeric label. Inter and Open Sans offer independent sans comparisons. Choose the role first and keep body-text evaluation separate from the appeal of a large display sample.

For independent comparisons, try Inter and Open Sans. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
