The remake introduced a broader text-choice system
In EA’s original development account, Motive experience designer Christian Cimon describes bringing the remake’s options beyond those expected when the original game was released. The account identifies subtitle size, capitalization, colors, background opacity and speaker-name controls. It also discusses menu narration separately. These are documented presentation choices, not a list of downloadable typefaces. Record whether you are changing dialogue subtitles or another interface element before expecting one setting to affect both.
Use the PC subtitle controls for the actual reading problem
EA’s PC Language & Subtitles reference documents the Subtitles toggle and Subtitle Font Size Scaling slider, whose range is 0–100. That is a scale control, not a point-size specification. Start with subtitles enabled, change the scale and compare a short line with a longer spoken exchange. The same settings page documents the ALL CAPS toggle. Compare it separately rather than changing size and capitalization simultaneously, so you can tell which adjustment helps your own reading.
Balance text, background and speaker information
The PC reference lists Black on White or White on Black subtitle colors, background opacity, and speaker-name display and color options. Compare a line against a bright scene and a dark scene, keeping the wording and viewing distance consistent. Decide whether identifying the speaker requires the name before turning it off merely to shorten the block. These settings do not identify the logo font or promise to replace all game text. Inter and Source Sans 3 are independent layout comparisons, not game font assets. The Unicode text generator styles copied text; it does not change Dead Space settings.
Your questions, answered.
Can the native settings install a different typeface?
The cited EA controls adjust subtitle presentation. They do not document a custom-font installation or replacement procedure.
Is the subtitle scaling value a point size?
EA calls it a scale factor on a 0–100 slider. It should not be described as a font point size.
