01

Corporate A: background and attribution

Kurt Weidemann developed the Corporate ASE trilogy between 1985 and 1990. URW describes a coordinated program containing Antiqua, Sans Serif and Egyptian designs, originally made for a corporate identity commission. Corporate A is the Antiqua member of that system rather than a generic label for any business typeface.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

The catalog distinguishes Pro and Standard resources, with several weights, italics and condensed options. Related family letters identify different design categories; they are not simply weight labels. Check the chosen edition’s coverage and files when planning a coordinated identity.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Compare a formal document heading with a paragraph and a narrow table label. Establish the main reading size before adding condensed styles to save space. Use the actual A, S or E resources deliberately when building a consistent hierarchy across documents.

For independent comparisons, try Source Serif 4 and Lora. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
