01

Canva Sans: background and attribution

Canva documents Canva Sans and Canva Sans Display as typefaces in its product typography system. Its brand guidance describes a custom family used across body copy and expressive headings. This is a particular Canva design system, rather than a generic name for every sans-serif font available in its editor.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

The developer guidelines distinguish body text from title roles. Canva Sans is specified for body text and smaller titles, while Canva Sans Display is used for medium and large titles. This illustrates how a display treatment and a text treatment can serve different reading sizes within one visual system.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Compare a prominent heading, a short paragraph and a compact label together. Give the heading enough presence without making the small text feel overly decorative. For a Canva app, follow Canva’s documented typography components; for another website, choose an appropriately licensed family for your own system.

For independent comparisons, try Inter and Manrope. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
