Bogart Font

Francesco Canovaro designed Bogart in 2020 as a response to low-contrast old-style display faces, including Cooper Black and Goudy Heavy Face. Zetafonts also identifies Bookman and Windsor among the references. The family develops those influences into its own weight and width system rather than copying one historical specimen.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

Heavy resources use broad, soft shapes, while lighter treatments expose more delicate teardrop terminals. The collection includes standard and alternate drawings, italics and narrower branches. Inspect the exact package’s style list before assuming every weight, width and alternate exists in every combination.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

Try a heavy editorial title and a lighter introduction. Compare the standard drawing with its alternate before selecting a consistent set for the publication. Check smaller text independently: the weight and character that suit a large retro heading may need adjustment for a long passage.
