Blenny: background and attribution
Spike Spondike designed Blenny for Dalton Maag, whose page dates its design and development to 2014–2020. The foundry presents a rounded fatface display design with a retro character. It is a single-weight project supporting both Latin and Thai, rather than a large conventional text family.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
Blenny combines substantial curved forms with fine hairline details and ball terminals. The documented features include ligatures, an alternate ampersand, numeral options and fauna icons. Decorative animals are supporting symbols, not additional alphabet weights; their availability should be checked through the original glyph controls.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Try a short product label or bold headline at the final size. Inspect thin details and internal spaces before choosing a background or printing process. Compare actual Thai text where needed rather than extrapolating its appearance from Latin samples, and keep lengthy practical information in a quieter companion.
For independent comparisons, try Shrikhand and Spicy Rice. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
