Identify the creator behind each modern font resource
JSHcreates’ Basquiat is described by its maker as a brush script with upper- and lowercase letters. A separate product, Ola Dębniak’s Basquiat Irregular, draws on graffiti and children’s writing: its publisher lists three alternatives per letter, Cyrillic support, Narrow and Wide alphabets, plus Frames and Lines companions. Neither creator listing establishes that its files were drawn by the artist or are an official transcription of every artwork. Record the contemporary designer and full product name.
Use the irregular family’s companion system deliberately
If choosing Basquiat Irregular, make separate proofs for the alphabet and its Frames or Lines companions. The publisher describes uppercase letters as frame starts, ends or arrows, and lowercase letters as line elements. Keep those controls in a labeled reference rather than expecting ordinary text to produce the same result in every companion font. Compare repeated-letter alternatives in the actual heading, then add one frame treatment only after the wording reads clearly. An ornament should not be mistaken for a missing letter.
Separate an exhibition interpretation from an original artwork
Designer Jessie Quan’s account of The Unknown Notebooks exhibition documents red-and-blue rules recalling composition notebooks and a sans-serif interpretation of the artist’s penmanship. It is a designed exhibition system, not proof of a retail font used by Basquiat. Permanent Marker and Caveat Brush here are independent mark-making comparisons, not his handwriting or either named product. The homepage’s Unicode alternatives for expressive short text change copyable characters; they cannot reproduce painted marks, alternate-font systems or original artwork.
Your questions, answered.
Is a font named Basquiat necessarily the artist’s handwriting?
No. Identify the contemporary designer and the source’s exact claim. A shared name or inspiration is not proof of an authentic handwriting transcription.
Are Basquiat and Basquiat Irregular the same product?
No. The linked creator resources identify separate brush-script and irregular-alphabet products. Use their full names and makers when comparing files.
