Audi Font: Audi Type, Brand Roles and Guideline Versions

Audi’s 2021 Motorsport CI/CD guideline explicitly names Audi Type as the corporate face. It assigns Extended styles to headings and subheadings and gives separate roles to Audi Type Wide and the base family. This is a documented identity system, not simply a visual suggestion to choose any futuristic sans serif. A font with a similar broad appearance should retain its own name and attribution.

The 2021 document describes mixed-case, unrotated text and left- or right-aligned ragged settings. Audi’s separate vehicle-lettering data sheet identifies Extended Bold for the Audi name and Extended Normal for other sender information in that context. These are rules for particular brand applications. Do not lift one instruction from a dated document and claim it universally describes every Audi campaign, logo or later edition of the identity.

Record whether the reference is the four rings, the Audi wordmark, a model badge or ordinary communication text. The cited typography rules do not identify every model emblem as an unmodified font setting. Use the image-identification guide when the question concerns specific lettering, and the geometric-font guide for separately named modern comparisons rather than declaring a visual match official.

Try an original vehicle-event title above a compact specification block. Compare a naturally wide heading style with a quieter text face, leaving the technical details comfortably readable. Align units and numbers consistently and avoid stretching letters to fill a fixed box. Keep the actual family, width and weight in the production notes, and attach any referenced Audi document’s date so the comparison stays tied to its evidence.
