Arsenica: background and attribution
Arsenica is a Zetafonts serif project rooted in early twentieth-century Italian poster lettering. The current source credits Francesco Canovaro and Debora Manetti, with development contributions from Mario De Libero, Andrea Tartarelli and Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini. The family develops Old Style references through Art Nouveau and Deco influences.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The publisher distinguishes Antiqua, Display, Alternate and Text resources, with optical-size and weight controls in the variable presentation. Compare the branch appropriate to the size rather than treating the most dramatic display form as a universal paragraph face. Check script-specific coverage in the chosen resources.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Try a poster-scale title beside a small caption and a longer introductory paragraph. Compare contrast and spacing independently at each size. A display detail that looks expressive in a headline may need a different branch or companion in the smaller text.
For independent comparisons, try Cormorant Garamond and Playfair Display. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
