01

Arpona: background and attribution

Felix Braden designed Arpona for Floodfonts. The publisher identifies small wedge-shaped serifs as an important characteristic. Those restrained terminals distinguish it from a plain sans-serif while leaving room for relatively clean corporate and editorial settings.

Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.

02

Forms, styles and what to inspect

Inspect the wedges at a large size, then compare their presence in a short reading line. Keep Arpona distinct from the related Arpona Sans. Removing or changing serif treatment changes the character of a family; it is not just a font-menu style toggle.

Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.

03

Try it in a real layout

Compare a package title, a product description and a short editorial heading. Use real punctuation and accented names. Judge whether the small serif details remain useful at the final size, and compare a clearly named independent alternative under the same conditions.

For independent comparisons, try Marcellus and Quattrocento. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
