01

A shared family name is not a shared design

Adobe Fonts identifies Archive by Pieter van Rosmalen from GarageFonts as a geometric monospaced design built on a grid. María Feliz publishes a separate hand-drawn sans serif named ARCHIVE. Fontfabric’s Archive page currently says its resource is no longer available and offers other families instead. These records should not be merged into one designer, license or download claim. Record the publisher with the name when asking someone to reproduce an existing document.

02

Proof the monospaced direction as a system

The GarageFonts resource on Adobe Fonts describes consistent character widths and relates the design to early digital experimentation. For an original field-note index, compare short identifiers such as A07, B12 and C03 beside descriptive labels. Check the rhythm of numbers, punctuation and long words together before deciding whether the mechanical spacing suits the design. Source Code Pro below is an independent monospace comparison, not Archive or a substitute with verified matching metrics.

03

Evaluate the hand-drawn face in a supporting role

On her original product page, María Feliz says she created ARCHIVE as a supporting typeface and cites The Golden Thread as an influence. Her account emphasizes irregular strokes and a less rounded structure. Make an original journal cover with one expressive title and a quieter date or subtitle; compare that hierarchy with a version in which both levels compete. Patrick Hand below is a separately named handwriting comparison. Use María Feliz’s supplied specimens and linked preview guidance to inspect her actual design.

04

Follow the correct acquisition and preview route

The Fontfabric page is evidence of current unavailability, not a working original download or a preview of Archive itself. Its suggested families are different resources. For GarageFonts or María Feliz, follow the respective publisher route and inspect the actual style, terms and required characters before production. Archivo is another distinct family; a similar spelling does not establish equivalence. Keep a source record with the final artwork so a later editor can resolve the name without guessing from a file found elsewhere.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Your questions, answered.

Are all fonts named Archive interchangeable?

No. The cited publishers identify distinct geometric, hand-drawn and discontinued resources. Check the publisher and actual specimen.

Does Fontfabric’s current Archive page still supply that font?

The reviewed page says Archive is no longer available and displays different suggested families instead.
