Aphrodite: background and attribution
Aphrodite is a calligraphic Typesenses family created by Sabrina Lopez with Maximiliano Sproviero. In a first-person publisher interview, Lopez describes its beginnings as lowercase lettering from a college assignment, subsequently developed with Sproviero into a typeface. The related Aphrodite Slim is a further design exploration rather than merely a mechanically lighter version. The family brings historical writing influences into an expanded system of digitally selectable letter combinations.

Forms, styles and what to inspect
Typesenses lists Regular, Contextual, Stylistic, Swash and Text components, alongside a larger Slim group with endings, historical forms, ornaments and titling options. The creator’s own package description relates the lettering to copperplate and cancelleresca traditions. Ligatures, swashes and alternate characters enable varied calligraphic compositions, but they need appropriate OpenType controls. Compare a simple setting first, then choose special forms to improve the connection or silhouette of a specific word.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compose a wedding announcement with a prominent couple’s name and an understated date. Begin with the ordinary script setting, then try one beginning or ending flourish at a time. Keep decorative strokes away from borders and the second line of text. Check repeated letters within the actual names so they do not appear accidentally crowded, and set venue and response details in a simpler companion face with a clear reading order.
