Amador: background and attribution
Jim Parkinson initially designed and published Amador in 2004. Delve Fonts describes it as condensed English blackletter shaped partly by Arts and Crafts influences, including work by Frederic Goudy and Rudolf Koch. Parkinson’s experience drawing newspaper nameplates also informs the project.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The current Delve edition expands the character repertoire and includes alternates, swashes, ligatures and catchwords. Treat its edition details separately from older releases. A catchword such as a decorative conjunction is a designed glyph choice, not a reason to substitute an unrelated Unicode symbol.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Prepare a newspaper-style nameplate or a certificate heading with real names and punctuation. Compare the default letters with selected alternate forms, keeping the result readable at its final size. Use a simpler companion for dates, addresses and longer certificate text.
For independent comparisons, try UnifrakturCook and Pirata One. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
