Altivo: background and attribution
Kostić Type Foundry presents Altivo as a text-oriented sans-serif. Its family listing credits Nikola Kostić and explains design decisions intended to support small on-screen text. A related serif, Chiavettieri, was developed with coordinated basic proportions and matching tabular-figure widths.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
Wide proportions, a generous x-height, open apertures, loose spacing and low contrast define the documented approach. Ink traps also contribute to the display character. Eight weights from Thin to Ultra have true italics, with small caps, multiple figure sets and lowercase superscripts among the listed features.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Set an interface paragraph, a short label and a numeric table. Compare the regular text weight with a bolder heading, then inspect the ink-trap details at both sizes. When using tabular figures, activate the relevant feature in the final application and compare columns with the actual data.
For independent comparisons, try Inter and Open Sans. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
