Altesse: background and attribution
Jean François Porchez designed Altesse as a contemporary interpretation of French engraved copperplate writing from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The publisher account distinguishes this synthesis from a revival of one specific source. The linked Std edition is listed as a 2017 release with a later 2021 revision.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The source offers two optical sizes labeled 24pt and 64pt. These are distinct designs to compare, not merely instructions to resize one outline. Inspect joins, fine strokes and spacing at the actual output size before choosing an optical resource.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Prepare an invitation heading and a larger ceremonial title. Compare both optical sizes using the same words and intended reproduction dimensions. Leave room for script extents and choose a simpler companion for dates, addresses and longer practical information.
For independent comparisons, try Pinyon Script and Great Vibes. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
