Akkurat: background and attribution
Laurenz Brunner drew Akkurat while studying at Central Saint Martins, and Lineto published it in 2004. The designer’s profile places it within his work across London and later Amsterdam. Subsequent script expansions have their own collaborators and should not be credited entirely to one original drawing stage.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
Lineto’s current inventory distinguishes the proportional family from Akkurat Mono. Its documented script resources include Latin and additional separately credited extensions. Choose the correct branch and script before assuming a particular font file covers the entire collection.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Compare a publication heading and a paragraph with a numeric caption. Inspect the proportional and monospaced branches separately where alignment matters. Keep the actual script, weight and release documented when handing the layout to another editor.
For independent comparisons, try Inter and DM Sans. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
Official preview and font resources
Use Lineto to try the original and investigate the files, styles and terms for your intended workflow. This site does not distribute or serve Akkurat font software.
The editable alternatives here have their own source profiles and included licenses. For the difference between a font file and copied characters, read Unicode text versus fonts.
