Agenda: background and attribution
Greg Thompson designed Agenda, a sans-serif family associated by its publisher with the 1990s. The later Agenda One is an overhaul of the earlier retail design. A shared name and designer connect their history, but do not make them the same release.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
The publisher warns that replacing Agenda with Agenda One can change line breaks because character widths, kerning and accents differ. The newer collection spans several widths. Record the exact family version when reproducing a document rather than assuming a font-menu replacement will preserve its layout.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Use a real article paragraph and a long headline to compare an existing Agenda layout with a proposed replacement. Check line endings, accents and narrow columns after switching. Keep the original file available until the replacement layout has been adjusted.
For independent comparisons, try Source Sans 3 and Alegreya Sans. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
