Adrianna: background and attribution
Adrianna is Chank Diesel’s restrained sans serif family for Chank Co. On the creator’s product page, he explains that it developed over almost a decade, departing from the more exuberant display lettering associated with his work. Advice from other type and design specialists helped refine the result. The release history lists 2006, 2009 and 2015, placing the family within an ongoing effort to make versatile text typography.
Read the publisher’s family page for the source account and the edition currently offered. Keep a family name distinct from its particular release, width or optical branch.
Forms, styles and what to inspect
Chank describes three proportions: Regular for general work, Extended for broad horizontal media, and Condensed for narrower smartphone settings. The page documents five weights with italics in each width. These are designed alternatives within the family, rather than a reason to stretch the Regular version manually. Its distinguishing aim is direct, unobtrusive communication, so comparisons should include paragraph texture and labels as well as isolated display characters.
Use the original publisher specimen to inspect those features. An alternative can share a broad role without having the same letter shapes, metrics or character coverage.
Try it in a real layout
Build a small schedule containing an event heading, two session names and a short explanation. Compare the normal and condensed proportions at the same apparent size before choosing the narrow one. Use weight to distinguish session names from descriptions, keeping the width consistent within each role. Then make a wide banner version with the extended proportion and adjust line breaks to suit the new arrangement.
For independent comparisons, try Source Sans 3 and Inter. Use the same wording and approximate output size. The related style guide provides broader design context.
