What this style means
A cover letter benefits from a clear reading face and a visual relationship with the accompanying résumé. Start with the employer’s instructions, then choose a consistent family and a comfortable size.
The collection is a starting point for comparing letterforms. It does not promise that a font used for one project, brand or period is identical to any of these families.
Compare the families and their references
Arimo and Carlito provide straightforward sans comparisons, while Lora offers a serif direction. The editable specimens show design differences; they do not establish an applicant-tracking-system ranking or promise an employment result.
Explore the full profiles for Arimo, Carlito, Lora. Each includes its own project description and source license, so you can judge the actual design rather than the category name alone.
Try it in a real layout
Harvard’s career guidance recommends keeping the letter and résumé typography consistent. Try a real opening paragraph and contact line, then review the exported document at normal size. Do not squeeze a long letter into tiny text merely to preserve one page.
Use the same wording and approximate size in each specimen. The size and tracking controls help you inspect the design; the PNG is a visual reference rather than a complete page layout.
Downloads, copying and next steps
Open a family’s official font page from its specimen when you want the font files. The selected source distributions include open licenses; review the license included with the specific files you obtain, especially if you plan to modify or redistribute them.
Copying ordinary letters does not carry these typefaces to a different app. Use a font-aware design tool or export an image when the appearance matters. For the character-substitution alternative, read Unicode text versus real fonts.
Your questions, answered.
Which font guarantees that a cover letter will pass screening?
No font guarantees a screening outcome. Follow the application instructions and keep the content readable, selectable and clearly structured.
Are these live previews free to use?
Yes. You can edit and compare the specimens here without payment. Use each official source link to download the font and read the included license.
Why do copied words look different in another app?
The previews use actual fonts loaded on this page. Ordinary clipboard text carries the characters, not a requirement for another app to render the same font.
